Job Summary

The Compensation & Benefits Analyst is responsible for administering, analyzing, maintaining and implementing compensation and benefits programs, practices and policies. This position performs compensation and market analysis, conducts market reviews for new and re-evaluated jobs, provides salary recommendations and participates in salary surveys to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness. The Compensation & Benefits Analyst handles the research and review of compensation and benefit trends and best practices to structure current and future total rewards programs.

 

Essential Functions

  • Finalizes new and re-evaluated job descriptions to ensure they accurately reflect current roles, responsibilities and requirements. Evaluates and recommends salary levels and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) designation. Manages market benchmarking, data gathering and analysis to ensure consistent and appropriate placement of positions within established salary ranges.
  • Serves as an internal compensation and FLSA advisor and consultant to the organization. Collaborates with divisional staff as well as enterprise management to identify patterns or needs spanning areas throughout the company. Plays an active role in the research and review of compensation trends and best practices to structure current and future compensation and total reward programs. Encourages cross-divisional adoption of best practices or methods identified to address concerns in other areas of the company.
  • Performs internal and external market compensation analysis to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness. Tracks, monitors and participates in applicable salary and compensation surveys.
  • Consults with internal HR staff and hiring leaders to provide salary recommendations to internal and external candidates. Provides salary recommendations for other employment life-cycle events such as promotions, demotions, pay adjustments outside of job changes, and SPOT Bonuses. Researches and provides geographical differential amounts to respective management as necessary.
  • Conducts special compensation studies for specific functional areas. Analyzes market trends, compiles statistical reports and develops and recommends action plans designed to attract, retain and reward employees. Provides guidance and consultation on the merit increase process, incentive pay and variable pay programs. Creates cost analysis scenarios and models to support general or specialized compensation administration initiatives, when necessary.
  • Plays a key role in the development and maintenance of various compensation programs and salary structures. Collaborates with leaders, Human Resources Business Partners and other HR staff members to ensure these programs align with company and departmental/goals and objectives. Partners with internal stakeholders on the maintenance of various incentive programs such as bonus and commission plans. Handles research and provides recommendations surrounding existing and new incentive programs, including sales commission plans.
  • Has a broad understanding of various Total Rewards (Compensation & Benefits) Programs and plans and possesses the ability to objectively analyze and evaluate the totality of offerings from both a company cost and a cost-benefit perspective. Makes recommendations on potential new offerings which will address the needs of employees at all employment life stages.
  • Leads, participates and/or performs research and prepares materials for special projects such as open enrollment execution and the development of Total Rewards Statements. Is involved in the development of various compensation and Total Rewards training. legal, policy and managerial related training programs. Participates in the development of tools and resources on various compensation programs.
  • Analyzes various types of benefits data including medical, dental and vision premiums. Provides various data modeling options and ensures analysis is action-ready.
  • Provides administrative support on the setup and maintenance of HRIS (HR Information System) tables, when necessary.

Field(s) of Study: Human Resources, Business, Accounting, or closely related field

 

Experience Requirements

Required: Minimum of 4 Years

Preferred: Minimum of 5 Years

Experience Details: Minimum of 4 years of Human Resources experience in a role with proven analytical experience is required; of which at least three years of experience directly relates to compensation or benefits analysis, design or consultation. Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required. Day-to-day HR Compensation and Benefits administration within a large organization of 1000+ employees is highly preferred. Compensation incentive design experience in the insurance industry is also preferred.
