Please join us on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the TCCN Monthly Meeting for an update on Executive Pay Trends.
 
The focus on executive compensation has continued to increase since the economic meltdown in late 2008.  In the face of the challenging economic circumstances, companies are being asked by shareholders for greater alignment of company performance and executive pay.  At the same time, regulators are requiring increased disclosure on executive compensation programs, policies and processes.  In response to this evolving external situation, many companies are, at minimum, reviewing their executive pay practices, and in many cases making changes to most effectively address their short-term and long-term business and human capital strategies.
 
Brian Blackwood and Mike Grund from Towers Watson will be discussing the latest trends related to executive compensation, including: pay levels, annual and long-term incentive design trends, severance and change-in-control programs, risk as it relates to compensation programs, regulatory events, say on pay, and shareholder advisory services.

Speakers:
  • Brian Blackwood is a senior consultant in the Executive Compensation practice of Towers Watson’s Minneapolis office.  Brian joined Towers Watson after working as a consultant for a collegiate men's leadership organization.  He designs base salary pay structures and provides competitive data around executive short- and long-term incentive plans and board of director competitive compensation levels.  He also provides development support and quality review on the design and implementation of executive incentive programs.

  • Mike Grund is in the Executive Compensation practice of Towers Watson’s Minneapolis office, and specializes in executive and outside director compensation. He has advised clients at the board and management level on a broad range of compensation matters, including executive and outside director compensation, annual and long-term incentive plan design, employment agreements, severance and change-in-control provisions, corporate governance matters and pre-IPO preparations.  Mike has co-authored studies on the impact of stock option expensing that have been covered in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Forbes.com, and Bloomberg.
